What is an Emex B-BBEE certificate?

The Emex B-BBEE certificate is a verified report on your current status as a B-BBEE contributor according to the latest DTI Codes of Good Practice (released 9 February 2007) or relevant Sector Codes.


What is B-BBEE (Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment)?

Black Economic Empowerment is a process of assisting and educating previously disadvantaged individuals to enable them to contribute to the economy. Emex found that most of our clients were already doing that, not to obtain points, but to help and educatetheir employees! Now you get recognition for that!


What are these elements they are talking about?
The elements you saw are the areas you will receive points for on your certificate. These areas include:
  • Ownership
  • Management and Control (Directors level)
  • Employment Equity (Managers and employees)
  • Skills Development (Training given to black people)
  • Preferential Procurement (Where you procure goods from)
  • Enterprise Development (Assisting black owned (>50%))
  • Socio-economic Development (Assisting black people)


What is the process Emex will follow?
  1. You pull a quote, accept it and make payment
  2. We welcome you and send you an username and password
  3. We arrange and perform a pre-audit site visit at your premises
  4. You determine the date you will be ready with your documentation
  5. We arrange the audit date and perform the audit
  6. The file is moderated and checked
  7. Certificate is signed and issued

 		 What is Bulk Search for B-BBEE certificates?

Emex sends your supplier list to the National Registry to search for your suppliers on their list and match them. After that you receive a procurement report and then the Emex Audit Process can start. If you will not include procurement then you can skip this process. Click here to go to the National Registry


What about suppliers that's not on the National Registry yet?


Emex has a call centre with a highly trained team that can phone those suppliers for their B-BBEE certificates.

Optimisation Report

Emex is the only verification agency that supplies an optimisation report for the Codes of Good Practice scorecard (included in the certificate fee). The calculation is based on your scorecard information and your situation.
